Our services and programs are grounded in the knowledge that every student brings with them a unique background and set of needs. We believe in meeting our students where they are at, and that with the right combination of support, every student can grow into a more authentic, effective version of themselves.
The Counseling Center provides services that contribute to the academic success, personal growth, and positive social contribution of SHSU students. They also offer an after-hours mental health Helpline. Trained volunteers are available to help you talk through life challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, adjusting to college, relationship concerns, and more. The SHSU helpline is a free resource and is available to both students and the community. Your gift will help support the continued operation of these valuable resources.
The continued success of our Athletics Program means that there are even more opportunities for our Spirit Teams to represent SHSU on the national stage! Your gift will help support the ability of our teams to travel to championship games, bowl games, and other venues where our student athletes are dominating their sports!
SHSU offers endless opportunities for students to actively engage with the campus community and to participate in any number of extracurricular activities. The Services for Students with Disabilities department gives members of the Bearkat family with diagnosed and documented disabilities the opportunity to take part in these important programs. Your gift will help support the critical work that this office does to make the Bearkat experience accessible to all.
Bearkat Camp is a high impact program that helps our first-time freshmen build a strong community with their peers and familiarizes them with university resources. Your gift will help provide scholarships to students who may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of attending this important program.
