The cost of attending college is increasing, and covering those rising costs may be difficult for students and their families. According to Sallie Mae, 7 in 10 families (73%) use scholarships to help pay for college education. Scholarships are an incredible source of financial assistance and help students obtain an education they may not otherwise have access to. Scholarships lessen the financial burden and help decrease the number of student loans needed to attend college.

Scholarships are vital to Bearkat students, and every gift helps Sam Houston State University empower students for academic excellence.

We want all students to have the opportunity to attend SHSU, and with the help of scholarships, we can eliminate financial barriers and make attending college a reality. Scholarships also enhance SHSU’s ability to enroll talented students and close the gap between cost and aid, reduce student loan debt, and boost graduation rates. You can help change lives through scholarship funding. Join Matt Bethea, Vice President for University Advancement, in supporting Freshman Scholarships. SHSU 1961 Sigma Chi Challenge
Sigma Chi alumni brothers Jerry Stephenson '78, Larry Larrison '77, Shane Sklar '99, and Jason Hammons '99 have come together for our first SHSU Giving Day to encourage support back to the university. Give $19.61 or more in honor of the founding of Sigma Chi at SHSU and when 25 gifts are made, $1,961 will be unlocked from these fraternity brothers!
