SHSU Giving Day 2024

Giving Day is an online fundraising event that brings together alumni, parents, friends and Bearkat fans from all over to make a difference at Sam Houston State University. Giving Day is a celebration of philanthropy that lasts 1 day, 8 hours, 7 minutes, and 9 seconds in honor of our founding year, 1879. 

SHSU Giving Day will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and runs until 5:07 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Philanthropy is a critical part of Sam Houston State University’s success. It funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college and supports the university’s top-notch faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and hands-on learning opportunities for students. Giving back is one of the greatest things we can do for our university and for future Bearkats. Whether you can give $15 or $500, you make a difference!

Matching and challenge gifts are special types of donations that amplify your support! A matching gift is when a donor offers to match your support dollar-for-dollar up to a certain amount. A challenge gift is similar, but this type of donation is made only if a specific number of people step up to support a certain fund. If you would like to issue a match or challenge to your fellow Bearkats on Giving Day, contact givingtoshsu@shsu.edu. 

It's up to you! One hundred percent of your gift goes directly to the area that is important to you. Whether your heart is with your college or department or you have an interest in a specific initiative or student program at SHSU, you are free to choose what your gift supports.

If you do not see the fund that you would like to support, please select the appropriate department, and then select "Other" under the Fund Designation drop-down menu. A new field will appear immediately below where you can then type in the fund you wish to support.

All gifts to Sam Houston State University, including those on SHSU Giving Day supporting specific areas of SHSU, are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

You will get an email confirmation of your credit card transaction right after you make your gift.

Absolutely! SHSU Giving Day is integrated into Sam Houston State University’s online giving platform that utilizes TouchNet, which is PCI Level 1-compliant. When making a gift during SHSU Giving Day, you are just as secure as making an online gift to Sam Houston State University.

Yes! You can double or even triple your gift! Hundreds of companies will match donations to SHSU. (Your spouse's company may qualify too.) Search for your employer or company name here.
