College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Welcome to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Contributions to our college significantly enhance the learning experience for students across the university, providing them with essential building blocks of education. By studying our human nature, our pasts, and our relations to each other, students become better equipped to understand the world around them, identify their roles within it, and recognize their potential to influence change, regardless of their career paths.

Students cultivate valuable skills throughout our disciplines, including critical and strategic thinking, the ability to synthesize and present complex information, and creative problem-solving. They also develop resilience and adaptability—qualities that are crucial for navigating today’s challenging landscape and are highly sought after by employers.

Our college places a strong emphasis on meeting the following needs:

  1. Study Abroad/Away Enrichment: Our students greatly benefit from opportunities that broaden their horizons, both literally and figuratively. In 2024, every student participating in study abroad programs received the CHSS Study Abroad Scholarship funding, which often plays a pivotal role in enabling them to take full advantage of international travel and study.
  2. CHSS Freshman Scholarship: New college students often face numerous uncertainties as they transition to this new academic environment. These scholarships are designed to alleviate educational costs and ease the financial burden on first-year students, allowing them to concentrate on their studies without the weight of significant financial stress.

CHSS is proud to provide our students with opportunities for both academic and professional success. Thank you for your generous contributions, which make an immense difference for the CHSS Bearkats.
