Student Affairs
Eat 'em Up Kats!

Welcome to the heart of the Bearkat Community: the Division of Student Affairs. Here, spirit, tradition, and service come together to create a vibrant campus life. Our mission is to support the development and success of our students beyond the classroom. We are committed to fostering a dynamic environment that encourages holistic growth, empowering students to achieve success both academically and personally.

Fraternity and Sorority Life is dedicated to fostering leadership, scholarship, and a strong sense of brotherhood and sisterhood by providing meaningful opportunities for student connection. Your generous contribution will support the creation of the new National Pan-Hellenic Council Plaza, leaving a lasting legacy for these student organizations on the SHSU Main Campus.

Student Affairs is dedicated to offering engaging, physically centered programs and initiatives that support Bearkats in developing soft skills such as teamwork, school spirit, traditions education, and networking. The Joseph Pritchett Field currently requires field improvements that your significant gift will benefit. These fields are used by our nationally and state-recognized SHSU Rugby Club, SHSU Women’s Soccer, and the Bearkat Marching Band. In addition, SHSU Spirit Programs, the champions of school spirit with numerous national titles, need financial support for student scholarships and new and upgraded uniforms/costumes. As higher education continues to evolve, so too do opportunities for student engagement, such as Esports. Expanding spaces in the Lowman Student Center to accommodate these organized, electronic, and competitive activities is a key focus of the division.

The Division also offers impactful programs and opportunities for first-year students, warmly welcoming them into their new home and community. Bearkat Camp excels in providing an experience that enhances school spirit and pride, while also educating participants about university traditions. Your support will help expand the scope and reach of this program, allowing more students to benefit. Additionally, Bearkat Kickoff, the university’s official new student onboarding program, prepares students for college life through a combination of curriculum and events. Designed to boost student success and retention, this program serves as a vital steppingstone in creating a seamless transitional experience for all students, which your gift will help with.

Your support on Giving Day is invaluable in sustaining and expanding these Student Affairs programs, directly impacting the students they serve.
